Healthy Ageing Starts Here: Meet The Retinol That Works With You

Ageing is a beautiful thing (like fine wine) - a journey filled with stories and smiles. But some skin changes, like fine lines, uneven texture and sun damage, can feel less like a celebration and more like a surprise guest at the party. That’s where Retinol comes in.

If you’ve heard the buzz but weren’t quite sure if it’s for you, don’t worry. We’ve got your hooves covered with our NEW Slow-Release Retinol Anti-Ageing Active Serum.

We believe skincare should be effective and gentle, especially for those with sensitive skin. Traditional Retinol products can be a bit intense, so we created a formula that works with your skin, not against it.

What Is Retinol?

Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that’s loved by Dermatologists and skin enthusiasts alike. Why? Because it encourages your skin cells to turn over faster, revealing fresh, smooth skin underneath. It also helps boost collagen production and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and uneven skin tone over time. Think of it as a personal trainer for your skin, minus the sweat.

Why Is It So Popular?

Retinol is often called the “gold standard” of skincare for a reason. It’s one of the most researched and well-documented ingredients for improving skin texture and minimising signs of ageing. Plus, it’s known for tackling everything from dullness and pigmentation to breakouts, making it a favourite among skincare enthusiasts. Users also report an improvement in skin elasticity, radiance and the appearance of pores.

Who Is It For (And Not For)?

If you’re looking to smooth out fine lines, brighten your complexion, tackle blemishes and give your skin a healthy boost, Retinol might be just what you need. However, it’s not for everyone.

Many Retinol serums can be too strong for those with very sensitive or reactive skin, and it’s not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding (opt for our natural alternative instead, Bakuchiol). If you're on skin medications, we would advise against the use of Retinol. Retinol is also suitable for adults only.

Make sure to press pause on Retinol (and other strong active ingredients) when:

  • Sunburned – wait until any redness and irritation is gone
  • Getting a facial – stop using a week before and for 5 days after
  • Having facial waxing or laser – pause for a few days before and after to avoid irritation

If you have any concerns, it’s always a good idea to do a patch test or chat with a Doctor or Dermatologist before starting.

Why Did MooGoo Create One?

We love effective skincare, but we also love keeping things gentle and affordable. Many Retinol products on the market are either too harsh, too drying or filled with unnecessary extras.

So, we created our Retinol Anti-Ageing Active Serum with an encapsulated form of retinol that delivers all the benefits - without the irritation.

Encapsulating it in a natural liposome helps protect it from breaking down (since Retinol is notoriously unstable) and allows it to work more effectively with your skin. Our medium-strength formula uses slow-release technology, ensuring it penetrates gradually overnight to minimise irritation. Plus, the targeted delivery system helps retinol reach the deeper layers of your skin, rather than just sitting on the surface.

Our formula includes nourishing ingredients like Jojoba Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Phospholipids, and Glycolipids to support your skin barrier and prevent dry skin. Like all MooGoo products, it’s free from parabens, synthetic fragrances, and other nasties your skin doesn’t need.

How To Use

While our formula is gentle, Retinol is still a powerful ingredient, so slow and steady wins the race! Here’s how to introduce it into your routine:

  • Start by using it 1-2 times a week in the evening after cleansing.
  • Apply a small amount to your face and neck, avoiding the delicate eye area.
  • Follow up with a moisturiser to lock in hydration. We love to pair Retinol with Ultra Hydrating Face Cream
  • Always wear sunscreen during the day, as Retinol can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
  • On Retinol nights, avoid strong exfoliants or multiple active ingredients. Save them for your non-retinol days.
  • If your skin is happy, after a few weeks you can gradually increase usage as your skin adjusts.

Ready to Glow?

Ageing is a natural and beautiful process, and we’re here to help your skin stay as healthy and radiant as ever. If you’ve been thinking about trying Retinol, our gentle, skin-loving formula is the perfect place to start.
