We’re here, lets chatMost acne creams rely on Benzoyl Peroxide, a cheap bleach that can even turn hair orange on contact. While it’s common, harsh bleaches aren’t the best choice if you want skin that stays healthy, calm and clear.
Blemishes can be caused by a mix of factors, from sebum (your skin’s natural oils) going rancid, to hormones or even bacteria infecting pores. That’s why a cream that gently cleanses and targets both issues with natural ingredients is far superior to bleach, in our opinion.
We wanted a solution that works with your skin, not against it. So we created a calming cream with hydrating, calming and clarifying properties to ensure gentle results. It costs a little more to make than bleach-based alternatives, but your skin’s long-term health is priceless.
How to use: Apply morning and night after cleansing and any serums or oils, while your skin is still slightly damp. This cream isn’t about instant results, it works best with consistent use over time.
Aqua (H₂O’s Fancy Name), Cetearyl Alcohol, Squalane (Olive), Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Polysorbate-60, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethyl Sulfone (MSM), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Milk Protein (For Skin Elasticity), Piroctone Olamine, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate (Oil-Soluble Vitamin C), Allantoin, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Resveratrol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, Glycerin, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid.
Because we make our products for our families, we have a strict ingredient philosophy that excludes ingredients like Parabens and Phenoxyethanol.
We show all of the ingredients we use in our products on our website, not just the pretty ones. That way you know exactly what's in each one, and can get in touch if you have any more questions.
Please be aware that the ingredients we use in our formulas may be updated occasionally and therefore vary from time to time. Please refer to the ingredient list on the product packaging for the most up-to-date and relevant list of ingredients.
What is the difference between your old Blemish Cream and this new formula?
We've recently made some updates to our much-loved Blemish Cleansing Moisturiser, including a name change to Blemish Calming Cream!
As part of this refresh, we've tweaked the formula by removing Pyrus Malus (Apple) Extract and introduced a new ingredient, Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Oil. Lemon Myrtle is a native Australian plant known for its natural antibacterial properties, which makes it a beautiful fit for blemish-prone skin.
That said, Lemon Myrtle does have a naturally strong, zesty scent that some customers may notice, especially if you're familiar with the previous version. While the scent may seem stronger at first, it's simply the nature of this powerful ingredient. We’ve kept the amount low (less than 1%) to be gentle on sensitive skin.
What other products do you recommend for blemish-prone skin?
We have a few other products that specifically address blemishes. Our Tamanu Oil is a lush oil that helps when dealing with blemishes. It’s best applied after washing, but before moisturising. While it might seem counterintuitive to use oil on blemishes, adding oils to the skin actually helps the skin to stop overproducing its own oil, which is one of the main causes for blemishes.
We also recommend our Oil Cleansing Method. Cleansing with oil also sounds counterintuitive but oil dissolves oil, especially hardened oil trapped deep in the pores. This gentle cleanser doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oils, which also helps the skin to stop overproducing its own oil.
And finally, for those looking to exfoliate, we created our Gentle Exfoliating Powder, a gentle, non-abrasive facial exfoliant designed to keep the skin fresh by exfoliating physically and enzymatically.
What ingredients do you avoid when making a moisturiser?
There's lots of things you won't find in this cream (or any of our other products) because they were all formulated for family members and close friends. This includes Paraffin and Mineral Oil which derive from petroleum, but are commonly found in commercial moisturisers like Sorbolene. We don’t think putting the stuff that goes into our cars on our skin is the healthiest thing we can do.
We also don’t use any synthetic preservatives such as Parabens and Phenoxyethanol, although they're pretty common too, including with a few brands that claim to be natural (you know who you are!). We avoid a lot of other things too, way too many to list here. We also don't use any useless, trendy ingredients like stem cells from Swiss apples or super power jellyfish DNA, just natural, effective ingredients for healthy skin.
My cream isn’t white. Does this mean it’s gone bad?
Since we use natural ingredients in our products, you may sometimes notice a change in colour to your cream, particularly this one. A change in colour is normal and should be expected since we don’t use any bleaching agents to keep the cream bright white. Natural ingredients are also often rich in colour and can change the colour of a cream after it's mixed in. Don’t be surprised if this cream changes to a light tan colour over time. It’s not a bad thing.
Is this moisturiser made of milk?
We aren’t called MooGoo because our products are made with milk. If you think about it, putting any meaningful amount of fresh milk into a cream and then putting it on a shelf in a store for a while would not end well – yuck! We do use ethically and sustainably sourced Milk Protein from a credible Australian supplier in a some of our skincare products because research has found that it helps to increase skin elasticity by up to 20%.
If you want to know more about the Milk Protein we use, check out the General section on our FAQ page for more detailed information.
Why does my bottle no longer have a straw?
For a better user experience, and to get the absolute most of your MooGoo ‘goo-dness out of the bottle, we’ve taken on our customer feedback and have launched a new and improved Airless pump bottle for our 75g Face Creams range, and Argireline® Serum. On first use, make sure the product top is on tight and keep pumping until you get product. So, what actually is an airless pump bottle? Unlike jars and bottles with an internal straw, an airless pump bottle works on a vacuum. As you pump the product, a disk at the bottom of the bottle slowly moves up (the vacuum effect) allowing the cream to stay in contact with the mechanism ‘airless’. If you have any further troubles, please contact our friendly customer service team for assistance.
