Almost 2 years ago we researched all the new natural cleansers that had started becoming available and chose the mildest we could find. At first it was just experimenting for fun (farm-aceutical play) to see if it was possible to use the very mildest one available as the main cleanser. Usually, it's only used as a secondary cleanser. The newest and mildest cleansers are quite a lot more expensive and difficult to formulate with so we were not sure it would be viable. But we liked the result so much that we found ourselves using it all the time. So we thought we just had to make it into a product regardless of the cost.
How do we know it is so gentle? The reason why it’s suitable for even the most sensitive, irritated and inflamed skin is that our formula uses the lowest-irritation cleanser available as its primary ingredient (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate).
This ingredient has an irritation score that is 38% lower than other leading gentle clinical cleansers, and 75% lower than synthetic detergent, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). SLS is an ingredient that’s still commonly used in many popular, therapy wash products and can cause dryness and irritation. You may not have had time to read the ingredients on many cleansers claiming to be “gentle” but some still contain SLS and other ingredients that are far from gentle.
Our Ultra Gentle Cleanser is pH-balanced, dermatologically-tested and free of Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, soap and a whole lot of other ingredients we can’t list here.
After we nailed the base (if we do say so ourselves), we added in some Ceramides. Ceramides are an amazing ingredient and a key component of the skin that Eczema or Dermatitis sufferers lack. The function of Ceramides is to retain moisture within the skin and act as the building blocks for a healthy protective barrier. Without Ceramides, the barrier function weakens, and a compromised barrier means vital moisture can escape and external irritants, pollutants, and allergens can get in.
A compromised barrier and a lack of hydration within the skin can often lead to flare-ups. Our Ultra Gentle Cleanser cleanses the skin thoroughly and gently, while helping to restore Ceramides into the skin to help prevent that.
This Ultra Gentle Cleanser was specifically designed for eczema-prone, hypersensitive or fragile skin, but because of its extremely gentle nature, it’s suitable for every skin type and every age, no exceptions. And not only is it one of the most skin-friendly cleansers on the market it is one of the most environmentally friendly too. Through its unique fermentation process of sugar cane/grain, low energy consumption for manufacturing and bio-degradable ingredients.
The new Ultra Gentle Cleanser with Ceramides pairs perfectly with MooGoo’s Eczema & Psoriasis Cream (AUSTL 335464) which has a solid reputation as a follow-on treatment to steroidal creams.

How is this cleanser environmentally friendly?
This cleanser is environmentally friendly because it doesn’t use dimethicone and other silicones to protect our waterways and it uses a highly environmentally friendly process of fermentation of sugar cane or grain, in which it is refined and then crystalised (graph below).
How is this extra gentle?
The Ultra Gentle Therapy Wash is our most gentle formula because it uses the lowest-irritation cleanser available as its primary ingredient. This ingredient has an irritation score that is 38% lower than other leading gentle clinical cleansers, and 75% lower than synthetic detergent, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). It’s also pH-balanced, free of Parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Soap, and more.
Is this cleanser suitable for Eczema?
Our Ultra Gentle Cleanser with Ceramides was designed for eczema-prone, hypersensitive and fragile skin. Because of its extremely gentle nature, it’s suitable for every skin type and every age and the addition of Ceramides assists even further with those struggling with Eczema and Dermatitis.
What is SLS?
SLS stands for Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), (an ingredient that is still commonly used in many popular, therapy wash products). It can be drying and irritate especially to those who are sensitive skin. Our primary ingredient is 75% lower than SLS.
What does "Dermatologically Tested" mean?
You may have seen the term “Dermatologically Tested” on lots of products before, but did you know there’s not an actual definition or regulation for this term? Because that didn’t sit right with us, and because we aim to make products for people with really sensitive skin, we decided to send a bunch of them off to be tested in an independent lab on 54 people who reported having sensitive skin. The results were given on a scale of 0 to 5 with 0 being no irritation or redness and 5 being a reaction. We’re happy to report that other than one person who had a reaction to the adhesive on the patch and another who found the patches painful to remove, all subjects reported 0 for redness and irritation for all the products we sent for testing. To check out the full report and summary of the test we did on this product, click here.
