MooGoo’s 3 Vitamins Eye Serum is made by dissolving three powerful topical vitamins through a natural base of anti-oxidant oils that mimic the skin's own sebum. This creates the most concentrated method of applying anti-oxidants and Phytosterols to the skin. Why will this help prevent the appearance of ageing? We could claim all sorts of benefits, however we always urge people to look for the peer reviewed studies and not the claims of the companies selling them. Here is one study on the anti-ageing effect of topical vitamins, Phtytosterols and Cermaides. (Click for study here) and we urge people to do more of their own research.
This is how we make the serum. We first make the base of our eye serum to mimic human sebum. This not only ensures the maximum skin hydration and flexibility to resists lines, it also helps in the absorption of vitamins. Human sebum and the intercellular cement of the epidermis are made, among other elements, of more or less 12% Squalane and 25% Wax Esters. We use a very specialized ester derived from Olive that contains increased level of Phytosterols along with Squalane and Jojoba Oil which gives extra smoothness.
We then dissolve in our Ascobyl Tetraisopalmitate, which is an oil soluble and stabilized form of Vitamin C anti-oxidant. Being oil soluble helps ensure better penetration into humans' oil saturated skin. Inferior water-soluble forms of Vitamin C don’t penetrate well in our opinion. This form of Vitamin C is the most expensive because it is the most stable, but worth it for the extra anti-oxidant activity it provides to the skin.
We then stir through a natural form of Vitamin E. Synthetic Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol) only contains Alpha Tocopherol. Our natural Vitamin E contains both Alpha and Gamma Tocopherol. Research is starting to suggest that it may be the Gamma Tocopherol that gives the most benefit to the skin. (MooGoo uses Natural Vitamin E in all our creams as well).
Lastly we stir through Pro Vitamin B5. This is already well known for the benefits it brings to the skin and we thought it a very worthwhile final ingredient in the serum.
Eye serum can be over priced in our opinion. Despite the expense of some ingredients, the quantity is relatively small. We believe the 3 Vitamins Eye Serum contains among the highest quality ingredient of any serum. Like all MooGoo products, we have priced it as realistically as possible because not everyone wants to spend $90 on a serum. We hope you enjoy as much as we do.
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Squalene (Olive), Olive Oil Decyl Esters, Abscorbyl Tetraisopalmitate (Oil Soluble Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5)
|Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil||Jojoba Oil is one of the most moisturising skin care oils around and is one of our all-time favourite moisturising oils. It is light and sinks into the skin easily. Curiously, Jojoba Oil is actually a liquid wax. It is also very non comedogenic meaning that it does not clog the pores. It makes for a good conditioner too. It helps keep the hair shaft smooth and soft. Most hair conditioners use silicone to coat the hair (cyclomethicone or dimethicone), however Jojoba Oil is much more natural and moisturising and doesn’t cause so much build-up.|
|Squalene (Olive)||One of our favourite moisturising oils. It helps leave your skin moisturised and dewy. It is good for all skin types, including acne prone skin.
Our body produces a small amount of squalene, but the amount diminishes when we get older, starting in our twenties. Squalene is required for our skin to keep it moisturised and fight aging. It is also a unique antioxidant from olives that protects our skin from free-radical damages.
Since Olive squalene's composition is very similar to human sebum, it can penetrate our skin very quickly to help our skin to fight dryness. It enhances skin elasticity and moisture retention.
|Olive Oil Decyl Esters||Wonderfully healthy for the skin. So many benefits, it might be best to Google "Olive Oil Skin" instead.|
|Abscorbyl Tetraisopalmitate (Oil Soluble Vitamin C)||Anti-Oxidants help prevent skin oxidisation and so in theory can help prevent the signs of ageing. The difficulty is developing ingredients that can stay stable long enough to penetrate the skin to work their magic. Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is the latest and most expensive form of the Vitamin C anti-oxidant. It also helps with pigmentation. A typical study is shown here.|
|Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E)||We use the more expensive, natural Vitamin E in our creams, not synthetic. Natural Vitamin E has up to twice the bioavailability of synthetic forms. Vitamin E has antioxidant action as well as free radical scavenger properties. Abundant assortments of researchers from diversified medical fields have theorized that this can slow the aging process. (Sources: Skin Pharmacology and Applied Skin Physiology, November-December 2001, and Free Radical Biology and Medicine, October 1999).|
|Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5)||This amazing pro-vitamin has natural broad abilities to moisturise, soothe, heal and regenerate the skin.|
