- moogoocows: We kept getting stuff all over our clothes so have made up a Moogoo shirt to wear at work. Not too controversial :) http://t.co/0LZ1wcrA
Product Description
As all parents know, babies often get red and irritated skin around the nappy area. This can be caused by either a reaction to urea, or by yeast. The introduction of a barrier cream combined with an anti yeast ingredient is the best way to prevent this. In addition, it would help if the ingredients not only agreed with our skin but our insides too. We all know how much babies enjoy eating anything within arm’s reach. So we made MooGoo Nappy Balm.Even though the refined nut oils used in skin care do not contain the protein that cause allergic reactions, we made our baby balm nut oil free for peace of mind. Parents already have enough on their plates.
First tried and tested on our own babies. Four thumbs up (they are twins) .We have now decided to share the love. Charli and Avie are now rash free and we hope you too have soft bottomed babies

Ingredients
Purified Water |
We could say ‘Aqua” |
Sunflower Oil |
Sunflower Oil is rich in vitamins A, D, and especially in vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Sunflower oil has a light texture making it very comfortable on babies skin. |
Zinc Oxide |
Zinc Oxide helps provide a natural barrier between moisture and the skin. One cause of Nappy Rash is skin being in contact with urea from wet nappies. |
Olive Oil |
Wonderfully healthy for the skin. So many good things it might be best to Google "Olive Oil Skin" instead. |
Castor Oil |
The Ricinoleic Acid in castor oil works to inhibit many viruses and bacteria, and as castor oil is able to penetrate skin tissue deeply, this makes it an effective way to help keep the skin free from bacteria, another possible cause of Nappy Rash. |
Jojoba Oil |
Jojoba Oil is one of the most moisturising skin care oils around. It is light and sinks into the skin easily. Curiously, Jojoba Oil is actually a liquid wax. |
Glyceryl Stearate Citrate (food grade emulsifier) |
Whenever waters and oils are mixed together in a moisturising cream, an emulsifying wax is needed to hold them together. For Our nappy balm, we use the food grade emulsifiers here just in case some little fingers get a hold of something they shouldn’t. |
Cetearyl Alcohol |
A plant based emulsifier. |
Beeswax |
A natural wax designed to help prevent the moisture from wet nappies contacting the skin. |
Evening Primrose Oil |
This is an exceptionally fine textured oil and has superb moisturizing, emollient, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. It has been traditionally used to make an infusion for healing wounds, but it is used in skincare for its good moisturizing and emollient properties on dry aging skin. |
Glyceryl Caprylate |
When water and natural oils are mixed, they can become contaminated with bacteria, some of which can be very dangerous. Our products are often used by people with already troubled skin and children, and bacteria are the last thing they need. We also use the products ourselves. We know that a tiny amount of an effective preservative in a natural product to keep the cream pure is a much safer option than taking chances with "natural" preservatives that are not very effective. Glyceryl Caprylate is an Ecocert Approved (Organic Approved) way of keeping this cream sterile. We voluntarily send our creams for testing to an independent laboratory that checks the purity of the cream if stored under 30 degrees for 2 years. This is called a British Pharmocopea Preservative Efficacy Test. |
Vitamin E |
We use natural Vitamin E which is a mix of both Alpha and Gamma Tocopherol. This is important as many products use only Alpha Tocopherol Vitamin E, while it is Gamma Tocopherol that is is considered the best anti-oxidant for skin. Vitamin E functions on the skin to protect cells against free-radical damage, and an abundant assortment of researchers from diversified medical fields have theorized that this can slow the aging process. (Sources: Skin Pharmacology and Applied Skin Physiology, November-December 2001, and Free Radical Biology and Medicine, October 1999). |
Piroctone Olamine |
Non-irritating and also helps keep the cream free from bacteria |
The thickness of the balm is excellent and doesn’t rub off as soon as you put a nappy on! Would I recommend or suggest the nappy balm? Without a doubt.
